The platform combines listings, breeder profiles, buying guidance, verification, paid visibility, and in-app chat into one calm, trustworthy experience.
Project Details
I built KittenPlein as a search-first marketplace for people who are intentionally looking for a kitten and for breeders or private sellers who want to present a litter clearly. The product is designed around the full decision path: finding current kittens, narrowing by breed and province, checking health and seller signals, asking questions in-app, and returning to saved listings later. The technical foundation uses a modern Next.js App Router stack with server-rendered listing pages, content-led landing pages, typed database access, Auth.js account flows, email notifications, and Mollie payments. That combination lets the site behave like a practical marketplace while also ranking for informational searches around safe kitten buying, kitten breeds, breeder trust, and Dutch buying checklists.

What had to be solved
Build a Dutch kitten marketplace that inspires trust in a market where buyers often depend on photos, limited information, and quick decisions.
The challenge was to combine current listings, safe communication, breeder information, buying advice, search visibility, and monetisation without making the platform feel cluttered or impersonal.
How it came together
KittenPlein uses Next.js 16 with the App Router, server-rendered listing routes, indexable landing pages, dynamic search filters, and a content-driven knowledge centre.
Visitors can search kittens by breed, province, city, price, and availability, while sellers post, manage, renew, and expire listings through authenticated account flows. The platform supports in-app chat, favourites, breeder verification, health documents, reporting, moderation, newsletter alerts, and paid visibility through Mollie.
