KittenPlein is a live Dutch kitten marketplace where buyers can discover current kittens for sale and sellers can publish clear, trustworthy listings. After shipping the core marketplace, the focus has shifted to SEO-led growth: expanding indexable breed, location, listing, and knowledge pages while welcoming the platform’s first real users and listings.
Project Details
I built KittenPlein as a search-first marketplace for people in the Netherlands who are intentionally looking for a kitten, and for breeders or private sellers who want to present a litter clearly and responsibly. Since the first version, the project has moved from product build-out into early growth: the platform now has its first users and live listings, and the current focus is on compounding organic search traffic through long-tail SEO pages, structured content, and fast server-rendered marketplace routes. The product supports the full decision path: browsing current kittens, filtering by breed and province, checking seller and health signals, asking questions in-app, and returning to saved listings. The technical foundation uses a modern Next.js App Router stack with server-rendered listing pages, content-led landing pages, typed database access, Auth.js account flows, email notifications, and Mollie payments.

Turn a newly launched Dutch kitten marketplace into a trustworthy, discoverable platform in a competitive search landscape.
The challenge is no longer only building the product, but growing the supply and demand loops: helping buyers find KittenPlein through Google, giving sellers a reason to list, and making every listing, breed page, and guide contribute to long-term organic visibility.
How it came together
KittenPlein combines a functional marketplace with an SEO-first content architecture.
Visitors can search kittens by breed, province, city, price, and availability, while sellers can create and manage listings through authenticated account flows. The current growth work focuses on expanding indexable pages for kitten listings, breed information, safe buying advice, location-based discovery, and breeder-focused content. The platform also supports in-app chat, favourites, breeder verification, health documents, reporting, moderation, newsletter alerts, and paid visibility through Mollie. The SEO surface is built around natural Dutch intent pages such as veilig een kitten kopen, actuele kittens te koop, kitten kopen checklist Nederland, and adverteren als fokker.
